In a recent announcement, developer Vivid Storm Interactive and publisher Camlann Games have decided to delay the Early Access release of their eagerly anticipated colony sim game, Ascent of Ashes. Originally scheduled to launch on November 15, the developers have decided to postpone the release to the first quarter of 2024. This decision comes as part of their dedication to perfecting the game and implementing valuable feedback from the gaming community.
Vivid Storm Interactive’s Lead Developer and Owner, Max Hermann, addressed the delay, stating, “While we understand a delay is disappointing, we feel that our priority right now is to work on the reports and suggestions brought up by the community. We have taken your input to heart, and will be using it to build a stronger foundation for Ascent of Ashes.”
The decision to delay the release also aligns with the development team’s efforts to migrate the game from the Unity engine to a new one.
Hermann explained, “We’ve had challenges with Unity that will take some time as we port over to a new system. We originally planned on porting Ascent of Ashes to the Godot engine after the Early Access release, but following community feedback, we realized we should rather make the transition sooner. This will give us time to work on fixing features, as we focus on polishing the core gameplay, which is a priority for us.”
Once the necessary polish and stability fixes are completed, the developers are committed to delivering a steady stream of content updates as outlined in their roadmap to version 1.0. The player community has played an essential role in shaping the game’s future, with key features like an in-depth tutorial and UI text scaling being added based on player requests.
