Diablo 4 ’s first major expansion has been announced. Vessel of Hatred was announced at BlizzCon today with a brief teaser video and the title, with more info to come tomorrow when the Diablo 4 team presents.
The expansion is set to release “late 2024” so it will be a while. In the meantime, Blizzard’s plans for Diablo 4 have been confirmed as Seasons with new content and a series of annual expansions. With that in mind, there’s still plenty of content to come until Vessel of Hatred’s release.
Tomorrow, the Diablo 4 team will hold a Campfire Chat live at BlizzCon at 2:30 PM PDT. This presentation will feature Brent Gibson, associate game director, production director Tiffany Wat, lead game producer Kalyeigh Calder, game director Joe Shely, and associate director of community Adam Fletcher leading the discussion. Now that the expansion has been revealed, expect more on that, but also the current season and more that will come between now and Vessel of Hatred.
Diablo will also be coming to a tabletop game session near you next year. Glass Cannon Unplugged and Blizzard announced a multi-year agreement to bring Diablo to tabletop with games taking inspiration from the full Diablo universe.
Diablo: The Roleplaying Game, due in fall 2024, has a core engine based on Diablo IV. Diablo: The Board Game is a co-op adventure board game that is headed for a 2025 release. The announcement promises that both games will have some interchangeable components, shared accessories, and eventual expansions that complement each other.
