IKARO Will Not Die has been revealed by Futurlab, who has stated this is the spiritual successor to the Velocity series. It was back in 2021 when Futurlab announced its partnership with Thunderful to confirm the Velocity spiritual successor, and now we have the first look at what to expect. As you imagine there is a lot of fast paced action and neon lighting.
The description for IKARO Will Not Die says, “IKARO: Will Not Die is an all-new arcade action game from award-winning studio FuturLab. Experience maximum flow-state gameplay through an exhilarating blend of grav-surfing movement and martial arts combat in this spiritual successor to the acclaimed Velocity series.”
The Velocity series first arrived on the scene in 2012 with the debut game coming to PS3 and PS Vita. Velocity Ultra was a HD remake that came in 2013 which was then followed by Velocity 2X on Vita and PS4 in 2014. Ports of the game have since been released for Xbox, PC, and Switch. In 2020, Futurlab released a prototype video for a third game in the series called Velocity Supernova. At the time Futurlab has confirmed that Velocity Supernova was no longer in development, but did not rule it out if a publisher came along to help bring the game to life.
