Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 isn’t only everything fans wanted from Insomniac Games-developed superhero video game series – it’s also a triumphant technical achievement as it demonstrates the sheer power and technological potential of the PlayStation 5. On Fortress of Solitude’s Facebook page, a recent truth bomb created waves (when don’t they, right?). The post suggested that the Sony Interactive Entertainment-published Spider-Man video games are better than Warner Bros. Games-published Batman: Arkham series. Expectedly, fans debated both sides of the argument, with many rightfully pointing out that if it wasn’t for the Dark Knight’s efforts in the gaming world, there would be no Spider-Man 2 to celebrate now.
Why Batman: The Animated Series Is The Greatest Cartoon Ever
Without a shadow of a doubt, Batman: Arkham was the granddaddy of comic book video games for a long period of time. From Batman: Arkham Asylum to Batman: Arkham Knight, the Rocksteady Studios-developed games set a new standard for superheroes in the gaming world. Much like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has become a flagship for PlayStation 5, Arkham Knight did the same for the PlayStation 4 in 2015. While many fans hated the Batmobile combat parts of the game, there’s no disputing it ended the series on a satisfying and compelling note that pulled from all aspects of the Caped Crusader’s mythology and delivered on the previous titles’ narrative arc. Yet, the series could have – and should have – continued, because there’s a major hole in WB Games’ superhero strategy that Injustice can’t fix on its own.
