Valve Gifts Player One Steam Point To Reach 69,000 For Christmas
"How do I get a single point?" CoffeeAndPistachios asked the Steam subreddit, attaching a screenshot of their 68,999 balance. We all know why they wanted that 'nice' number, but that would mean buying a game for one penny. After scrolling through an endless abyss of free-to-play games, I couldn't find such a title. Luckily, CoffeeAndPistachios didn't have to suffer that unending tedium of scrolling.
It was a fateful, probably quite chilly Christmas Eve. A Valve employee, who was wistfully watching their co-workers leave the office, said, 'I'll be a sec, just gotta grab my coat', before running back inside. They had just spotted a Reddit post from someone ever so close to a Christmas miracle. They booted their PC back up, rubbed their hands, grinned a big grin, and sent that one measly point their way. Smug, they walked out of the office. Of course, all of that is fabricated and the true story isn't known, but it's a nice image, eh?
The reality, as reported by Kotaku, is that a "Steam Support Adjustment" granted CoffeeAndPistachios that singular point on Christmas. My story could still be close to the truth, but we don't know. Hell, maybe Santa broke into Valve's office and did it, right after snooping at the big blue box marked "HALF-LIFE 3, DO NOT OPEN".
They posted a follow-up comment two days ago, "Somehow it actually happened, a point appeared in my account. 69,000 baby!!! Whoever and however this happened, thank you so much."
It's a better gift than those perma bans Dota 2 was handing out.
On the same day, they made a new post with a screenshot of the updated, very nice number (we're all mature here, very serious people), "Kinda losing my mind, I did nothing, where did the single point come from?"
