Jeffrey Wright Hasn’t Seen Script for The Batman: Part II Yet
comingsoon.netstar Jeffrey Wright is set to return for the film’s highly anticipated sequel, but he hasn’t seen any script for the movie just yet.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Wright — who played GCPD Lieutenant James Gordon in the 2022 film — said that he actually hasn’t seen any script yet, but did assume that his character would be “moving up the ranks” due to the events of the first film.
“You’ve seen as much of a script as I have at this point,” said Wright. “Clearly, I’m Lieutenant Gordon at the end of the film, the first film, so we may be moving up in the ranks, I suppose, but I haven’t seen anything yet. I’m being patient, letting [director] Matt Reeves do his thing — which is going to be magical and wonderful — and looking forward to diving back into it when the time comes.”
Recently, a report from World of Reel suggested that filming on the sequel is set to begin in August, with a tentatively planned release date set for October 3, 2025.
Little is known about the plot of The Batman: Part II so far, though Robert Pattinson is set to return as the titular Dark Knight. The first film did tease the Joker and leave the Riddler alive at Arkham, so one or both of these iconic antagonists could make a return.
The first film, The Batman, stars Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as GCPD’s James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Ferrell as Oswald Cobblepot/ Penguin.
