From the looks of it, Sony is looking to add new features to its console through an upcoming new PS5 update.
At least, that's what can be seen in a freshly-released video from YouTuber 'Mystic', showing new features coming to Sony's console through a future firmware update. Included new features as shown in the video are the option to select dynamic backgrounds, widgets for friend activities, controller battery, storage, and more. These new features are likely part of a beta update, available for a select number of users. Check out the video below:
Sony has yet to officially detail the next PS5 system software beta - the most recent system update is version 9.00, which was rolled out for all PS5 users last week. This update added DualSense controller sound enhancements and more. The beta for this update was made available last month.
As most of you will know, the PS4 allowed users to use custom backgrounds as well as downloadable themes. Whether we'll ever have themes for the PS5 remains to be seen, but it appears that backgrounds are on the way. We'll update you as soon as more information about the next PS5 system update comes in.
The PS5 is available worldwide now. Sony released its console back in November of 2020 and is currently rumored to be revealing a Pro model soon. This PS5 Pro model is said to launch later this year. One of the new features of the console is said to be Sony's own upscaling tech, which can vastly improve the image quality of existing PS5 games.
