Until Dawn is already a playable teen slasher movie, so we weren’t always sure how its big screen adaptation was going to stand out. But credit where credit’s due: this is a really creative take on the Supermassive Games favourite.
Think of this like Cabin in the Woods meets Groundhog Day. Basically, the cast are living the same day over and over; each time they die, they’re brought back to life to face a fresh threat.
While a linear film can obviously never capture the “choose your own adventure” aspect of the main game, this at least brings an element of branching paths into the narrative, as the hapless teens try to break free from the cycle of their recurring demises.
Visually it all looks a bit amateur, but the original game was schlocky and silly, so we’re hoping this finds a similar kind of vibe.

Wendigos confirmed as one of the monsters
Honestly, while this one could go either way, don’t be surprised if it ends up being moderately successful. These horror movies are generally quite cheap to produce, and the concept looks fun enough to lure in casual movie goers. This might just work.

My current squeeze loves horror schlock so I'm sure I'll get dragged to this. She doesn't know it yet, but she's paying.
Sheesh… that thumbnail is creepy. The time loop is probably the best way to go about adapting the source material.
