The biopic will see Chalamet portraying the younger version of the legendary singer-songwriter. After the award-winning singer praised Chalamet, who — according to Dylan himself — is a “brilliant actor,” Chalamet took to social media to express his gratitude toward the singer.
On X (formerly Twitter), the Call Me by Your Name and Wonka star shared Dylan’s post, saying, “Floored. I am so grateful. Thank you Bob.” He also shared Dylan’s post via Instagram story, calling it a “dream come true.”

Yesterday, Dylan — known for hits like “Visions of Johanna,” “Like a Rolling Stone,” “Desolation Row,” “Positively Fourth Street,” “It Ain’t Me Babe,” and more — shared his first-ever public comment on the forthcoming biopic, which is set to hit theaters on December 25.
“There’s a movie about me opening soon called A Complete Unknown (what a title!). Timothee Chalamet is starring in the lead role. Timmy’s a brilliant actor so I’m sure he’s going to be completely believable as me. Or a younger me. Or some other me,” Dylan wrote.
The singer then reminded everyone to read Elijah Wald’s 2015 book that the movie is based on.
“The film’s taken from Elijah Wald’s Dylan Goes Electric – a book that came out in 2015. It’s a fantastic retelling of events from the early ‘60s that led up to the fiasco at Newport. After you’ve seen the movie read the book,” said Dylan.
