has grown quite a bit this morning, as four more stars have signed on to the HBO television adaptation of the critically acclaimed video game series.
Variety has reported that Danny Ramirez, who played the role of Joaquín Torres in the Disney+ Marvel Studios series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, will portray the character Manny in The Last of Us Season 2. He is described as “a loyal soldier whose sunny outlook belies the pain of old wounds and a fear that he will fail his friends when they need him most.”
Rebel star Ariela Barer will play Mel, who is “a young doctor whose commitment to saving lives is challenged by the realities of war and tribalism.” You star Tati Gabrielle will portray “a military medic struggling to come to terms with the sins of her past” named Nora, and Riverdale’s Spencer Lord will play Owen — an ally of Abby‘s who is “a gentle soul trapped in a warrior’s body, condemned to fight an enemy he refuses to hate.”
The Last of Us is written and created by Craig Mazin and original game writer Neil Druckmann, who are also executive producing along with Carolyn Strauss, Evan Wells, Asad Qizilbash, and Carter Swan. The directing line-up for Season 2 includes Druckmann, Mazin, Peter Hoar, Mark Mylod, Nina Lopez-Corrado, Stephen Williams, and Kate Herron.
The series is also being led by Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy Miller, and Rutina Wesley as Maria. Season 2 is be based on Naughty Dog’s acclaimed video game sequel The Last of Us Part II, which features a significant time jump introducing a now grown-up Ellie. The next installment has also welcomed new cast members to the acclaimed horror drama, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Young Manzino as Jesse, Isabela Merced as Dina, and Catherine O’Hara.
