Flintlock: Siege of Dawn is an upcoming PS5 action RPG from New Zealand developer A44 Games, best known for its 2018 Souls-Like, Ashen. Today, we were treated to an extended gameplay overview of the studio's next game, giving us our best look yet, with commentary from creative director Simon Dasan.
Influenced by flintlock fantasy fiction, Siege of Dawn is set in the world of Kyon, in which the Coalition Army has the city of the gods themselves under siege but is locked in a brutal stalemate. The game features a caravan mechanic, which will likely feel familiar to Ashen players, allowing a place for NPC characters to gather and give out quests. Combat retains that Dark Souls influence, but with added mobility, a mix A44 insists on calling «Souls-lite», giving us yet another gaming term to contend with.
Survivor, soldier, god killer

With five years of experience as a freelance journalist and mercenary wordsmith, RPGs are his first great love, but strategy and tactics games are a close second, genres in which he is only too happy to specialize.
This is my most anticipated release of the year going forward.
