Bandai Namco has revealed who will be the second DLC character in Tekken 8, along with news of free updates coming throughout the year.
Lidia Sobieski will be DLC fighter number two, and will be added to the game this summer with an early access period for Character Year 1 Pass owners.
Lidia – who made her debut as a DLC fighter in Tekken 7 – is the prime minister of Poland, and a karate expert.
While Lidia will be paid DLC, Bandai Namco also shed new light on some of the free updates coming to the game this year.
Battle adjustments will be made to the game at some point this spring, then in the summer, a new stage called Seaside Resort and a Photo mode will be added.
This will be followed in the autumn by a new story featuring Eddy Gordo (who was the game’s first DLC character).
Further modes are coming at a later date, including Online Practice and Ghost vs Ghost.
Tekken 8 launched in January to critical and commercial success, but since then fans have been expressing disappointment at the gradual increase of monetisation in the game.
Around a month after its release, Bandai Namco added microtransactions to the game, along with a Tekken Shop where items could be bought for real money.
This was followed by news in April that a Tekken Fight Pass was being added, which would add a live service element with free and premium tiers, much like a Battle Pass in other games.
The announcement angered some players, who felt that having already paid $70 for the base game and having been fully aware that DLC characters were to be expected, they were now seeing other forms of microtransactions being added post-launch.
