The May 2024 PlayStation Plus monthly games have been confirmed, with Sony pulling together a trio of games for all PS Plus subscribers – Essentials, Extra and Premium. Headlining this month’s selection is EA Sports FC 24, though there’s four games to choose from this time around.
The following four – yes, four – games will be available from the first Tuesday of the month, 7th May.
As some suspected, we have an EA game in the mix for May, with the company choosing to put their renewed football series in the pool for all PS Plus subscribers. Carrying on from FIFA 23, EA Sports FC 24 was a solid evolution. There’s a big rebrand, but the fundamentals will be familiar, with good, solid football gameplay and everything that EA has built around that core.
Alongside that you have the delightful foxy Zelda-like adventure of Tunic. There’s much more to it than that, but the aesthetic really is charming, and the gameplay will challenge you – see our Tunic review from Steve here, where he said, “Tunic had a lot to live up to after years of built up expectation, and it doesn’t just meet them, it shatters them and stands out as one of the most joyous gaming experiences I’ve had in years.”
Even more challenge? Well, then you’ll want to load up Ghostrunner 2, which is all about racing around as a cyber ninja, slicing and dicing enemies and avoiding the one-hit-kill bullets and attacks from enemies. Gamoc said in our review, “Ghostrunner 2 is undoubtably excellent. While it’s a tough and challenging game, the quick reloads help alleviate frustration and replace it with the “just one more try” drive to overcome it.”
And finally there’s Destiny 2: Lightfall, with Sony dishing out another of the yearly chapters from the game. This is the most recent expansion from early last year, and while it’s not the best of the series, now’s a good time to catch up on anything you might have missed, ahead of the story’s grand conclusion in The Final Shape
