The immortal SEGA brawler Golden Axe is being resurrected as a comedic animated series, of all things. Ordered by Comedy Central and produced by CBS Studios in collaboration with Sony Pictures, the series will undoubtedly feature buxom men and women battling dragons and various beasts, and presumably, hilarity will ensue.
In a press release (thanks, PSLS), Comedy Central revealed the show's premise and the surprisingly incredible voice cast assembled for the task. Veteran warriors Gillius Thunderhead (Matthew Rhys, The Americans), Tyris Flare (Lisa Gilroy, Interior Chinatown), and Ax Battler (Liam McIntyre, Spartacus) are joined by rookie adventurer Hampton Squib (Danny Pudi, Community) on a quest to defeat the evil Chronos Lait (Carl Tart, Star Trek: The Lower Decks). Ten episodes have been ordered for starters, although no release window was forthcoming.
We haven't seen a new Golden Axe game since 2008's Golden Axe: Beast Rider on PS3, which was almost universally panned and with good reason. Intriguingly, Golden Axe is one of the franchises SEGA has promised to resurrect, but it's surprising to see the series get such a concerted push.

Golden Axe as a comedy? Not sure what to make of that. I’m still worried how the new game will turn out.
Skies of Arcadia would make a better anime then Golden Axe.
@XenonKnight That and Shinning Force along with panzer Dragoon
There’s about 300 lbs of muscle and 2 inches of fabric on that box art.
