The Family Plan 2 Sets Returning Cast & Director, Mark Wahlberg Issues Statement

The Family Plan was released on Apple TV+ in December 2023. Directed by Simon Cellan Jones, the action comedy movie stars Mark Wahlberg, Michelle Monaghan, and more.
Per Deadline, Apple Original Films is now working on a sequel to The Family Plan. Wahlberg and Monaghan will both return for the film, as will Zoe Colletti and Van Crosby. Cellan Jones is also returning to direct The Family Plan 2, as is writer David Coggeshall.
“I am beyond excited to step back into the shoes of Dan Morgan again alongside my brilliant co-stars, and with Simon and David returning,” said Wahlberg. “Making The Family Plan, and seeing it become an instant success with global audiences in the way that it did, has been incredibly rewarding. We can’t wait to collaborate with our partners at Apple and Skydance again on this next chapter for the Morgan family as their European holiday inevitably goes awry.”
According to Deadline, The Family Plan 2 will take place on Christmas in Europe. David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger will produce the sequel for Skydance Media alongside Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson. John G. Scotti and Cellan Jones serve as executive producers.
Cellan Jones said, “I’m thrilled to be back with The Morgans as they tear through Europe in search of the perfect action-packed family Christmas.”
Cellan Jones previously told ComingSoon he was talking about doing a sequel to The Family Plan in a March 2024 interview. He said at the time, “We talk about a sequel to The Family Plan, which I think would be really fun to get the old gang back together. And I’m doing that thing where I’m reading some scripts. I’m in that time where I’m pleased not to be working, and then in a month, I’m gonna be panicking that I’m not working. You know how it goes.”
A release date for The Family Plan 2 has not yet been announced.
