Viewers have taken to social media to express their disdain over The Fall Guy’s Amber Heard joke calling it “distasteful” and “cheap,” among other things.
One X — formerly Twitter — user wrote that the gag was an “attempt at off-color/topical humor.”
Another user on X asked the writer what he found so funny about “domestic violence.”
One more disapproving reaction to the joke from an X user stated:
“’The Fall Guy’ made a distasteful ‘joke’ about the domestic abuse Amber suffered at the hands of Johnny. It’s 2024, why are we writing these kinds of lines into movies? nasty [sic] work.”
For the unaware, Depp and Heard experienced a rocky relationship after getting married in 2015. Following their divorce around 15 months later, the two were involved in highly publicized legal battles, involving defamation lawsuits. The Depp and Heard trial reached its final verdict in 2023.
