The MCU's broken multiverse becomes all too real in a new promotional standee for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The anticipated film seesBenedict Cumberbatch return as Dr. Stephen Strange, a former neurosurgeon who became a Master of the Mystic Arts and keeper of the Time Stone in his debut movie. Also reprising their previous MCU roles are Benedict Wong as Wong, Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, and Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch. Sam Raimi, who directed the original Spider-Man trilogy starring Tobey Maguire, returns to the Marvel fold to helm the film. The movie releases May 4.
The Doctor Strange sequel is part of the MCU's Phase 4 and picks up after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. It is set to be a game-changer for the future of the entire cinematic franchise, as it is expected to definitively expand on the concept of the multiverse once and for all. After Strange's botched spell in the recent Spider-Man movie, an opening in the multiverse allowed other characters from different timelines to enter the Sacred Timeline. In the recently released trailers, it seems that Strange will seek out Wanda to investigate and travel into different planes and dimensions.
