There are some Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Illuminati cameo rumors that are just rumors, warns producer Richie Palmer. The MCU is just coming off one buzzy, rumor-filled release with Spider-Man: No Way Home, and it's about to plunge into another. Set to debut in May, Doctor Strange 2 picks up with Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) following his first brush with the multiverse in No Way Home. This time, that thorny concept is showing its dangerous side as Stephen must contend with a dangerous new enemy.
Because it deals with the multiverse, Doctor Strange 2 has the potential to feature some major Marvel cameos. No Way Home was able to bring in characters from pre-MCU Spider-Man movies, and many of the rumors surrounding Doctor Strange 2 says the movie will do the same, but across all Marvel properties. Giving credence to those rumors is the most recent Doctor Strange 2 trailer, which featured a vocal cameo from X-Men's Patrick Stewart. His role appears to be a different version of Professor X, this time working alongside the MCU's version of the Illuminati. In the comics, the Illuminati is comprised of some major characters, hence the numerous rumors about Doctor Strange 2's cast list.

Some of these rumors could prove to be true, but fans shouldn't accept all of them as fact just yet. Speaking to Empire while promoting Multiverse of Madness, producer Richie Palmer commented on the various Illuminati rumors that have been swirling around the internet. Palmer referenced No Way Home as an example for how some rumors can be true, but still cautioned fans that they can also be false. He said:
