Stephen Strange's team-up with Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnesswill have some unexpected moments, teases the film's producer. Next up on the MCU's release calendar is Doctor Strange 2, currently set for release in May. The Sam Raimi-directed film will find Benedict Cumberbatch's titular sorcerer battling with the darker side of the multiverse after he first confronted the thorny concept in December's Spider-Man: No Way Home. This time, though, things are much more dire as a new adversary rises; Doctor Strange will even confront an evil version of himself.
Aside from Cumberbatch, Doctor Strange 2 stars Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Xochitl Gomez, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. It'll also be the latest MCU project for Elizabeth Olsen, who returns to play Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch, after her Emmy-nominated Disney+ show WandaVision. That miniseries helped lay the groundwork for Multiverse of Madness, at least when it came to Wanda's arc. She fully stepped into the role of the Scarlet Witch in WandaVision, and Doctor Strange 2 will see her become even more powerful as she teams up with Stephen for this new adventure.
