Tom Cruise joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Superior Iron Man in a Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer fan edit. With a script written by Loki showrunner Michael Waldron, director Sam Raimi’s Multiverse of Madness sees Benedict Cumberbatch reprise his eponymous role after appearing in six MCU films since his 2016 debut. In addition to Cumberbatch, the sequel will include Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, who all reprise their roles from 2016’s Doctor Strange. Also joining them is Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, and Xochitl Gomez in her debut as heroine America Chavez.
Thanks to WandaVision, Loki, What If…?, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, Phase 4 of the MCU has rapidly developed its multiverse concept. Multiverse of Madness picks up after the events of No Way Home, where Strange’s botched spell invited a variety of guests from other timelines/universe into the main MCU. The first official trailer for the film dropped during the Super Bowl, unveiling even more alternate universes and variants. In the trailer, Strange is arrested by Ultron sentries and taken to what seems to be a trial overseen by Professor X (Patrick Stewart) and, possibly, the MCU’s multiversal Illuminati. In the comics, the Illuminati are a secret society of superheroes including Charles Xavier, Reed Richards, Black Bolt, Namor, and Tony Stark/Iron Man.
