The Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer has fans speculating about various cameos, but the film may be hiding a sinister Ultron twist. The Doctor Strange 2 trailer from Super Bowl LVI revealed several plot points from the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film. Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) has a problem with Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and her Multiversal antics, America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) battles across the Multiverse, and Ultron bots seemingly escort Stephen Strange to a trial in front of Marvel's Illuminati. The moment seems to bring Patrick Stewart's Professor X into the MCU.
Marvel's What If...? gave Ultron his proper due in the MCU. In Avengers: Age of Ultron, the Avengers cleanly removed the evil AI from their world, with Vision (Paul Bettany) seemingly destroying the last trace of Ultron (James Spader). However, What If...? revealed the character was more powerful than the film showed. In Marvel's animated series, Ultron (voiced by Ross Marquand) defeats the Avengers, takes control of the Infinity Stones, and becomes an unmatched Multiverse threat. The villain even destroys Thanos (Josh Brolin) in an instant.
