Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' trailer teased the introduction of the Illuminati, and the possibility that Scarlet Witch kills the new superhero team. Marvel Studios decided to debut a new look at the sequel led by Benedict Cumberbatch's sorcerer during the Super Bowl. The Doctor Strange 2 trailer featured plenty of surprises about the movie's cast, story, and use of the multiverse. One element that it doesn't directly clarify is who the main villain is, although there are plenty of prime suspects, including Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) following the events of WandaVision.
As more marketing materials for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness are released, more evidence that Scarlet Witch is the movie's villain has been revealed. The black fingertips featured in the first trailer teased the influence of the Darkhold over Wanda and its dark magic corrupting her, just as it did to Agatha Harkness. Doctor Strange 2's Super Bowl trailer provided a much better look at Scarlet Witch's role, and the villain vibes continue to be evident. She's seen fighting different characters and covered in blood, while one of her lines of dialogue even mentions the hypocrisy between how her use of magic and Strange's are perceived.

Considering Scarlet Witch's status as a fan-favorite MCU character, there is some doubt that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness ends with Wanda as a true villain. However, that doesn't mean she won't do some villainous acts as she traverses the multiverse to try and find her twin superpowered sons. This will likely lead to conflict with Doctor Strange directly, but Doctor Strange 2's trailer also appears
