After months of silence about development on the long-awaited sequel, Supergiant Games has announced that will be launching in Early Access in Q2 2024. Fans of the fast-paced roguelike franchise had been waiting nearly a year for more news about its latest entry following the reveal of Hades 2 with a stylish, animated trailer during The Game Awards 2022 last December.
Initially spotted by Polygon, the announcement of Hades 2’s Early Access release was revealed in a new blog post by developer Supergiant Games. Stating that it was finally time to reveal the Early Access details it promised players in late 2022, the blog post gives an overview of Supergiant’s release plans for the highly anticipated sequel. As of right now, the developer states that Hades 2 is scheduled to be released in Early Access on both Steamand the Epic Games Store in Q2 2024.
Thanking fans for their patience before diving into the details, Supergiant’s blog post attempts to explain the long wait between the game’s initial reveal and its arrival on the pair of PC storefronts. Stating that Hades 2 will have “at least as much content” when it arrives in Early Access as the first Hades game did when it hit that milestone, Supergiant says it is working to ensure that the sequel is worth the wait. Ahead of the game’s launch in Early Access, Supergiant plans to run a technical test with a “limited sample of players” to iron out any technical and compatibility issues. No further details about the technical test were provided, though the developer promises that more information will be revealed as it becomes available.
