Supergiant Games has announced plans to release Hades 2 in Early Access next year.
While the exact date, pricing and system requirements will be confirmed closer to the time, the game will debut on Steam and the Epic Games Store in the second quarter of 2024.
The Early Access release will be preceded by a technical test, which is also planned for Q2 2024.
It “will contain much less content than what’s in store for the Early Access launch, and likely be limited only to a relatively small subset of players who express interest in participating”, Supergiant said.
Following the Early Access launch, the studio plans to add the rest of the game’s core content and refine what’s already there in a series of updates.
“The story will expand with each update, as we introduce more characters, and deepen relationships with existing ones,” it said. “This process will culminate in our v1.0 launch, which will feature the conclusion to the story and any other finishing touches.
“We don’t yet know exactly how long it will take us to get to v1.0 of Hades II, as our experience developing in Early Access has taught us (among many things) to expect the unexpected.
“For now, our focus is to keep building core content — environments, characters, weapons, Boons, story events, music, and more — as we gear up for our Technical Test and Early Access launch”.
Announced last December, Hades 2 is a direct sequel to its predecessor, which won multiple Game of the Year awards. It was released in September 2020 following an Early Access launch in December 2018.
