The iPhone 15 Plus is equipped with the same A16 Bionic as the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, but somehow, a YouTuber’s battery life test shows this model manages to last the longest out of any iPhone model tested. Even the company’s more premium iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, which are exclusively powered by the more efficient 3nm A17 Pro SoC, are unable to keep pace with the device that features a technologically inferior silicon. Let us take a look at this test in more detail.
The entire iPhone 15 and iPhone 14 were placed next to each other in Mrwhosetheboss’ battery life test, along with the iPhone 13 Pro Max. The iPhone 15 Plus features a 4,383mAh battery, which is a slight improvement over the 4,323mAh cell in the iPhone 14 Pro Max and smaller than the 4,422mAh capacity outfitted in the iPhone 15 Pro Max. With the test underway, Apple’s top-tier iPhone 15 Pro Max manages to outlast all the rest of the models, but only briefly.
During the test, Mrwhosetheboss notes that the latest ‘Pro’ models feature a 120Hz ProMotion LTPO panel that can dial down to 10Hz if something static is displayed. However, various parts of the battery life test show some form of motion, so the advanced display belonging to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max provides little advantage over the iPhone 15 Plus.
The Dynamic Island might also be sipping small amounts of battery, as the YouTuber mentions that with this addition, there has got to be some background process running in the background at all times, rendering those animations. Apple also mentioned in its keynote that the A17 Pro features the most efficient CPU on a smartphone, but those benefits are not being translated into real-world use, at least not in this test.
