Todd McFarlane, the co-creator of Venom, has said that he's a "fan" of Harry Osborne potentially being the man behind the symbiote in Insomniac's Spider-Man universe.
Ever since Spider-Man 2 was confirmed to be including Venom as one of the game's big bads, fans have been speculating who the symbiote could have bonded with in this universe. The original game's credits teased that it was going to be Harry Osborn in this universe, but that seemed like it wouldn't be a big enough twist since Insomniac had already hinted at it, so fans have been wildly theorising about Venom's identity ever since.

Well, after Insomniac debunked Peter Parker and Eddie Brock being Venom, it looks like the only choice left is Harry Osborne, something that's made clear by the game's story trailer having him and Venom say some of the same lines. This choice has been a little controversial considering Osborne has never been Venom in the comics, but it looks like even Venom's co-creator is on board with the choice.
While speaking to ComicBook.com about Spawn joining Call of Duty, McFarlane was asked about his thoughts on Osborne potentially being Venom in the Insomniac universe and he confirmed that he's a fan of the idea, but that he also prefers Venom to be a straight-up bad guy rather than someone conflicted in the middle.
McFarlane said, "I'm a fan. Okay, let me just state first off, I'm biased to what I'm about to say. So as the guy who created the visual look of Venom, I'm biased to it.
