During the main mission 'Phantoms of the Past', the Warriors of Light traverse a snowy domain filled with Mad Ogres and avalanches galore. What awaits them near the end is the dreaded Dragon Zombie, an understandably undead draconian who packs quite a slash behind its mangled claws.
Steady your resolve and tee off against this strange tentacle-armed beast with a little advice from those whose trials came before yours.
Dragon Zombie is the boss encounter in the Phantoms of the Past story mission set prior to the quest to obtain the Earth Crystal. The snowfields here are deceptively vast – for the battlefield upon which the boss fight itself takes place is unnervingly small by comparison. Make your way across the tundra, keeping in mind the tips we've established for the climactic challenge along the way.
It will hardly shock you by this point in the game, but the boss fight occurs in two relatively distinct phases. Dragon Zombie's tactics change midway through, and your own tactics must change in return.
Suit up in gear that reduces Poison-based damage if at all possible. In doing so, you will cripple Dragon Zombie's capabilities to an appreciable degree. This is Stranger of Paradise, not Final Fantasy 5, so don't expect to mitigate all damage through some clever equipment; nevertheless, your party will be able to shrug off certain strikes rather than run for their lives.
