The Garden Knight is the West Garden boss in Tunic and needs to be defeated to progress in the main story. Completing the West Garden area will lead players to the West Belltower. Before heading to this area, players will need to go east in the Overworld and complete the East Forest to ring the bell there and collect a sword at the Hero's Grave. There's a second sword in the West Garden, but the enemies there are more difficult, so it's recommended players get the East Forest sword before traveling west.
Once in the West Garden, the boss can be found in the upper left corner, but players should head to the bottom right first to collect the magic dagger in Tunic. This weapon can be found in a cave by heading south from the northern save point and taking the path along the fallen pillar next to the circular pool. Having the magic dagger will allow players to freeze the Garden Knight boss and deal sword damage or use the time to heal and recover stamina.

After collecting the magic dagger, players can backtrack a bit and start heading northwest. The Garden Knight arena can be found just after reaching the large platform with a few tougher enemies, including several Fairies and a Chompignom. Players will be able to pick up one of Tunic's instruction manual pages along the way showing the map of the West Garden. The map will show the fox's location so players can use it for reference to reach the Garden Knight arena.
As soon as the fox approaches the Garden Knight, it will come alive and start attacking. The Garden Knight will strike with its sword and use a ranged attack throughout the fight. The arena is somewhat small, but there's still enough room to avoid the Garden Knight's
