Rob Zombie has shared a new backstage photo with fans from the set of his upcoming movie The Munsters of the characters of Herman, Lily, and Grandpa. The metal singer-turned-horror director is mainly known for his gorier features, including the infamous House of a 1000 Corpses. Now, however, he's turning his hand to a reboot of the considerably more family-friendly but still spooky sitcom The Munsters, his first ever film not rated R.
The original The Munsters series aired on CBS from 1964 to 1966 and followed the story of the Munster family, friendly monsters except for their ordinary, human niece, Marilyn. The family is helmed by Lily, a vampire, and Herman, one of Frankenstein's monsters. The show's direct competitor, The Addams Family, is probably now the more famous of the two franchises thanks to its multiple remakes. However, The Munsters was victorious in the ratings at the time, and Zombie's new reboot of the series, after multiple aborted attempts, seeks to bring the classic comedy to a new generation of viewers.
