Warning! Spoilers for Batman/Superman: World's Finest #2
It seems that Batman and Superman are on a collision course with a new DC Comics superhero: Monkey Prince. Marcus Shugel-Shen’s backstory is referenced in Batman/Superman: World's Finest #2, written by Mark Waid with art by Dan Mora and colors by Tamra Bonvillain.
Although many readers might be unfamiliar with Monkey Prince due to his recent introduction to the DC Universe, he appears to be making an impression on other heroes. Since he first made his debut in DC Festival of Heroes: The Asian Superhero Celebration #1, Marcus has voiced his dislike of superheroes, citing a number of reasons, believing them to think they are better than anyone else. While he is even friends with Billy Batson, he specifically hates Shazam. With that in mind, it seems unlikely that Monkey Prince will be teaming up with any heroes sometime soon.

However, Monkey Prince’s origin story gets a shoutout in Batman/Superman: World's Finest #2, as Niles Caulder of the Doom Patrol reveals an ancient scroll depicting the House of Ji. In the panel, Chief references a fight between “magical warriors and deities” and “the immortal Nezha.” The Monkey King known as Sun Wukong is included in the illustration, who inspired the real life creation of Monkey Prince. The teenage superhero’s roots are relevant within the DC Universe, as the mythological Chinese figure exists in his world.
