The next project from Shiro Games has been revealed today, with the developer announcing a space based MMO called SpaceCraft. In SpaceCraft, humanity has had to leave the Milky Way after a devastating defeat by the Tripods. The remnants travel through a portal that delivers them to an uncharted galaxy, where humanity must learn to rebuild and survive.
“We wanted to give players a spectacular open-ended world to explore, where their decisions have an impact and they have full freedom to choose their own destiny,” said Nicolas Cannasse, CEO of Shiro Games. “Build complex starships and bases, conduct trade deals in a real-time economy, and form alliances and rivalries at your discretion. From the time you start the game, SpaceCraft is your story to tell.”
In SpaceCraft, players will have the option to forge their own path in the galaxy, but that does not seem to be the way for long term success. Shiro Games has stated that connections between players is the real key, building up organisations and factions called Corpos, to dominate the emerging economy and becoming new military powers too. Players will be able to build orbital and land based bases that will grow as more housing and resource centres are added. Searching and securing resources will be necessary to keep things running and growing.
SpaceCraft is due to be released on PC via Steam in 2025.
