In celebration of PlayStation's 30th Anniversary, a new PS5 update lets you customise your console's home menu with themes that are based on past PlayStation consoles. Very cool.
But you know what's even cooler? Once you've grabbed this update, you'll be met with the iconic PS1 startup screen, complete with that deeply nostalgic audio. A genuine work of art (especially if you're aged 30 and over!).
The only difference is that we get a '30th Anniversary' logo instead of the PlayStation logo. But again, the audio stays the same as it was all those years ago.
There is a catch, however, in that this startup screen — and the aforementioned themes — will only be available for a limited time. You'd better get your fill of all this nostalgia while you still can!

On that note, we can totally see PlayStation fans campaigning to keep these options. We wouldn't be surprised if there's a bit of a backlash once the anniversary celebrations are over.

Man i really hope this is the start of more in depth customization options for the home menus
It's joy distilled into audio form and gives me goosebumps every time.
This looks great but it's also really stupid that they're going to remove them.
That said, seeing and hearing the familiar PS1 startup has been a joy and I've settled on the PS2 for the menu. Now Sony just do the right thing and leave them in for people to use
