Given the global popularity of k-pop, we’re surprised it’s taken this long for K-Pop Idol Stories: Road to Debut to be revealed. The game will see you working as a manger to assemble the next crop of superstars, although hopefully you won’t end up embroiled in a legal fallout like the one happening with NewJeans.

Developed by Indonesian team Wisageni Studio for PS5, and with a tentative 2025 release date attached, the title will see you managing the schedules and styles of a slew of prospective idols, as you work to formulate the next true supergroup.

You’ll need to develop a diverse and interesting group, by picking from their strengths, personalities, and stories. You’ll also need to determine what type of manager you want to be: disciplined or caring? Minigames and tough management decisions will make up the majority of the gameplay.

While we’re not overly keen on the art style selected here – it looks like a Hed Kandi CD cover to us – we like the idea of developing our own bands and seeing the outcomes. There’ll be original music created for the game by real-life k-pop music producers, so that should be fun, too.
