One player debates if it's worth restarting the game from scratch after finishing everything they care about, something many players have experienced over the years. While the game is a wonderful escape from real life, it does often reach a point where players have finished the museum, decorated their island, found their dream villagers and have little left to work towards. Coming to Reddit with their conundrum, the player namelesswndr asks if others have ever regretted restarting their island, hoping to come to a decision of their own. After playing for 4.5 years, they've more or less completed everything that the game has to offer, even finishing all the Nook Miles achievements.
On top of that, they've redecorated, changed themes, villager-hunted, and more to fill the time, but they keep coming back to the same conundrum of wanting to restart without losing it all.
While isn't a game you can complete in the typical sense, many players do reach a point after a few hundred or thousand hours where they no longer have any goals to work towards. As the game is so heavily centered around decorating your islands, completing the museums, and searching for dream villagers, it often feels a little empty to continue when there's nothing left to do. But restarting isn't all it's cracked up to be either, completely erasing these many hours of progress and leaving players with nothing to show for their hard work, which makes it hard to let go.
