Sonic Teaml Shows Some Love To Rare, Fan Favourite Duo, Vector And Vanilla

Sonic has a whole bunch of characters. So many in fact, that there are a lot who don't appear in the games all that often. Some are lucky to get appearances in the spin-off party games, let alone get featured prominently in the mainline entries. It's for this reason that many fans will passionately defend their lesser-known faves, and rejoice when they even get a second of attention. And this is exactly what is happening today.

Sonic Channel has just dropped its monthly art piece, celebrating characters who almost never get the spotlight. For May, the team will be celebrating a cult classic pairing that has a small, yet dedicated following: Vector and Vanilla. These two side characters star in the latest artwork, and will even get a short story centred around them next month.

This piece is part of Sonic Channel's 2023 calendar, with Vector and Vanilla representing the month of May. It follows on from Silver and Elise, who got their own piece for April.

Without the accompanying short story, it's hard to tell what's going on here. But it's certainly enough to make fans happy, as even with their limited appearances in games, the duo have long been paired together, both romantically and as pals. And after years of approximately zero content, it's safe to say that the shippers are especially pleased.

If you're not clued up on all of the minor Sonic the Hedgehog characters, Vector is a crocodile who first appeared in the Sega 32X game, Knuckles' Chaotix. After that, he didn't make another appearance until Sonic Heroes, before then being relegated to a semi-regular spot in spin-off games.

Vanilla, on the other hand, has had even fewer appearances.
