Sonic Superstars has brought back the infamously creepy Tails Doll for the first time in a mainline Sonic game for 25 years, after having originally debuted in 1997's Sonic R.
Sonic the Hedgehog as a series has always been a fan of easter eggs, memes, and references, and it looks like Sonic Superstars is no different. Just a few days ago, it was discovered that The End from Sonic Frontiers could be spotted menacingly looming over the Blue Blur and his friends in one of the game's final stages, but it turns out that there's an even scarier figure lurking in the game - Sonic R's infamous Tails Doll.

For those that don't remember the Tails Doll, he was a strange unlockable character that first appeared in Sonic R, a strange racing game that had Sonic and his friends running around courses to such memorable songs as "Can You Feel The Sunshine?". There wasn't an obvious reason why a creepy doll version of Tails was put into the game, which made him perfect fodder for creepypastas.
After becoming the stuff of internet legend, Tails Doll strangely hasn't made an appearance in a game since Sonic R (not counting his brief cameo in Lego Dimensions). Well, that's just changed thanks to Sonic Superstars, which features a cameo from the creepy Tails lookalike, who weirdly also acts as a collectible.
As showcased by YouTuber Help Me, the Tails Doll easter egg can be spotted in Pinball Carnival Zone's second act. The main gimmick of this level is riding around on train-like moving platforms and, towards the midpoint of the act, you can find one that drops you on top of a platform to continue going through the level.
