Sega has announced that Sonic Rumble is coming to PC as well as mobile when it’s released this winter.
The multiplayer party game, which sees players take control of toy versions of Sonic characters, was originally revealed in May for iOS and Android.
But during the fourth annual Sonic Central presentation on Tuesday (which can be rewatched in full below), Sega said Sonic Rumble is also coming to PC.
“Developed and managed by Sega in collaboration with Rovio”, it’s the first game to be released jointly by the pair since the Japanese company acquired the Angry Birds maker last year.
“In Sonic Rumble, players will take control of toy figures to compete in thrilling 32-player battle royale challenges, racing against each other to collect the most rings and prove themselves to be the fastest in the toybox,” according to Sega.
“With iconic characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog universe available for customization, players can create their own unique avatars and dive into the action-packed gameplay.”
In a recent interview with VGC, Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka suggested the studio isn’t planning to make a new Chao Garden game, at least not a standalone one.
He also discussed the return of Sonic Generations in a new remastered version, Sonic X Shadow Generations, which is coming to PC and consoles on October 25, 2024.
