Inflexion Games CEO Aaryn Flynn and Art Director and Head of Audio Neil Thompson discuss the future of Nightingale in a new video series called Dev Bites. The inaugural video focuses on the reception of the game post Realms Rebuilt and dives into what the team is working on next.
Flynn shares that feedback on the Nightingale reddit and Discord communities has been positive since update 5.0 arrived. The update was successful for the team in attracting both new and returning players, improving the pacing of the game and its action, and does a better job at onboarding new players. 5.0 also added new features and content, including Storied Realms, a tech tree, and a number of new boss battles.
Update 5.2 mostly focused on addressing community pain points such as bugs like the various issues with charms affecting gear levels, invincible trees, invisible structures, and bugged puzzle glyphs.
Looking ahead, the team is focused on continuing to squash bugs and improving the game’s performance via an integration with Unreal Engine 5.4. On the content side, the team is considering adding additional Storied Realms and improving the game’s item customization. Players can also look forward to NPC automation, building villages, and new apex creatures further down the line.
