XLGames and Kakao Games have published a new dev diary and accompanying blog for ArcheAge Chronicles, detailing the team’s vision for the title.
Executive producer Yongjin Ham describes the team’s goal of making ArcheAge more accessible to a broader audience by integration open world action gameplay into the MMO framework.
ArcheAge Chronicles’ story is set 50 years after the events of the first game, where the focus was on a high stakes storyline involving averting a large scale catastrophe. In Chronicles, the team is putting more of a focus on lower stakes stories involving the “hopes and struggles” of Auroria’s common people.
The development team is not only bringing action combat players would expect to find in single player games to Chronicles but also combining that with content meant for a wide variety of playstyles, including 20 player raids, world events, open world raid bosses, and take part in game modes like Crimson Rift.
The update also takes care to reassure long time ArcheAge fans that the studio is building upon the game’s legacy with Chronicles, with returning features such as lifestyle content, housing, trading, but this time with even more depth than before. One example given was housing. Players can expect to find even greater customization options than before and can even recruit roommates to share a space with and customize together.
