There have been rumors of FromSoftware potentially working on a remaster for , making it the second game in the series to get a remaster. Released all the way back in 2016, has been the end point of the story for a while, and the series hasn't been touched since 2018 with the first title's remaster. People have been calling for a return to the series, with some asking for a fourth game in the series to bring it back in a big way.
has been the most successful game in the series, and does feel like a culmination of everything FromSoftware had learned from the series at that point. The game looked better than anything released beforehand by the studio, played better with Weapon Arts, and still has some of the best bosses in FromSoftware's award-winning library. Story-wise, the game also acts as a great entry point into the series, with the world folding in on itself due to the constant Linking of Fire, but despite all its pros, it's not a game that needs a remaster.
FromSoftware titles have always been known for prioritizing art direction over graphical fidelity. Outside the combat and rich but often confusing lore, art direction is where FromSoftware games shine; however, that does mean that the games don't look like they have evolved from a graphical standpoint that much. There was a huge jump, graphics wise, from to, but there hasn't been one in the Soulsborne anthology since. Although it does look better, the difference in graphical fidelity between and the lauded isn't huge.
