Sniff N Seek Available For Testing in the Patch 10.1 PTR - Dig for Treasure with the Niffen
On the latest Patch 10.1 Embers of Neltharion PTR build, the Sniff N Seek feature is available for testing! With Sniff N Seek, you're able to go cave diving with a Niffen in search of treasure. We went through the tutorial Sniff N Seek mission, as well as check out some of the available caves to dig on!
Your First DigYou learn more about the Sniff N Seek system with the quest The Buddy System, in which you'll go digging with the Niffen NPC Myrrit, located by the Niffen hometown of Loamm in Zaralek Cavern. Myrrit will go with you to a mysterious cave with two tunnels — The tunnel to the left has poisonous gas that will quickly knock you out if you walk into it. and the tunnel to the right has a locked treasure chest protected by a shield. By the entrance to both tunnels is Myrrit's Backpack, which can be used to emerge to the surface. You are able to pick up Myrrit and carry him around. When carrying Myrrit, you will have a new action bar with several new spells:
Burrow: Follow Myrrit underground, becoming hidden from enemies and able to dig up treasure. While burrowed, two new buttons can be used:Emerge: Burst out of the ground. Dig: Dig up any treasures that can be found nearby.Sniff: Have Myrrit sniff for unique smells.Put Down Myrrit: Have Myrrit wait at a location.Mole Friend: Have Myrrit follow you.Escape: Leave the dive. This resets any progress if you haven't completed the dive. The way to solve this initial puzzle is pretty simple: First, you will need to pick Myrrit up and Sniff around with him until he smells some metal near the treasure chest. Once he picks a smell up and a pile shows up, you can Burrow, approach the pile and Dig for the chest key. This does not solve the issue of the shield protecting
