Resident Evil 4's The Mercenaries DLC is available for free across all platforms now.
The new DLC introduces the fan-favorite Mercenaries mode, which leans into fast-paced arcade action across the game's many stages. This content is available to anyone who owns the base version of the Resident Evil 4 remake.
In Mercenaries mode, your job is to build a combo to earn the highest score possible. As you play, the timer counts down, but racking up kills and keeping your combo going adds to the clock. Mercenaries lets you play as many of the game's most beloved characters, including Leon, Luis, Krauser, and Hunk. It's possible more characters will be added later on.
The mode sends you into stages across the Village, Castle, and Island, allowing you to relive certain moments from the base game. Can you earn the max rank on all stages?
Mercenaries was also available in the original version of Resident Evil 4, but has been expanded upon greatly in the 2023 remake. There was also a version of Mercenaries in Resident Evil Village, which featured a slew of playable characters and stages from the main game.
Capcom launched the Mercenaries DLC alongside the announcement that Resident Evil 4 had surpassed 4 million copies sold. Not only has the game performed well commercially, but critically, as well.
