Xiaomi has always been one of Qualcomm’s phone partners that gets to announce its flagships with a premium chipset first. When it comes to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 that we will most likely see getting announced in October, the Chinese company is once more said to have priority on the announcements, but only for its high-end offerings.
The less expensive models sporting the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 are also slated to arrive in 2025, with one tipster stating that it will be called the K80 Pro. While some specifications of the upcoming handset have been revealed, the pricing details remain in the dark. It is possible that Xiaomi has yet to decide on how much it will charge consumers because Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship is reportedly more expensive than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
After the K70 Pro that was powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Xiaomi is expected to introduce a successor in the form of the K80 Pro. On Weibo, Digital Chat Station has shared that the upcoming ‘price to performance’ flagship will tout a 5,500mAh battery that can be topped up with 120W of power. The tipster had previously mentioned that Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 flagships will launch with larger batteries to compensate for the chipset’s increased power consumption.
While we have learned about the K80 Pro’s potential specifications, what we do not know is its price. Xiaomi typically tends to charge its customer base an affordable price for the hardware running inside these particular models, but given that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is reported to be Qualcomm’s most expensive chipset ever, it will have little choice but to raise those margins.
