According to a Konami producer, the upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake from Bloober Team is «in the final stages of development.» The original Silent Hill 2 is often pointed to as one of the best survival-horror games ever made, and so it's really no surprise that many fans were excited when a remake was announced.
Following months of leaks, the Silent Hill 2 remake was officially announced in October 2022. The Silent Hill 2 remake announcement confirmed that the game would be developed by Bloober Team, the studio best known for horror game projects like the Layers of Fear titles and The Medium, a game that clearly took inspiration from the Silent Hill series. It was also confirmed that the Silent Hill 2 remake would be a PS5 console exclusive, though the game is also coming to PC.
Fans have been waiting nearly two years to get their hands on the Silent Hill 2 remake, and luckily, the wait is seemingly coming to an end. In an interview with Famitsu (translated by VGC), Konami producer Motoi Okamoto said, «We are in the final stages of development,» in regards to the Silent Hill 2 remake. Presumably, this means that a Silent Hill 2 remake release date announcement could be coming in the relatively near future and the game is on track to launch at some point in 2024.
The last time fans got a big update on the Silent Hill 2 remake's progress was at the latest PlayStation State of Play event, which featured the survival-horror franchise prominently. Besides giving fans an update on the Silent Hill 2 remake, the latest State of Play event also featured the surprise announcement and shadow drop of Silent Hill: The Short Message, a free, experimental Silent Hill PS5 exclusive game.
