Oculus Users That Don't Migrate to Meta Accounts At Risk of Losing All Their Purchases

Meta has announced that all Oculus account owners who don't migrate to Meta by March 29 will lose access to all previous app purchases and more. This is just the latest step in Oculus accounts being required to merge with Meta's ecosystem.

Facebook, now Meta, purchased the leading VR company back in 2014 before eventually requiring Oculus users to create Facebook accounts or merge with an existing Facebook account. While the news didn't go over well with some fans at first, who claimed its purpose was to gather detailed user data, users have begrudgingly adjusted to Meta's presence on the VR platform. However, fans should definitely be aware of the company's next requirement regarding Oculus accounts.

Oculus account owners who don't migrate their accounts to Meta by March 29 will have their apps, in-app purchases, app store credits, achievements, friends list, and any content created with their account deleted. Following a deletion, users will be unable to reactivate or retrieve anything mentioned in that list, so Oculus owners will certainly want to take action if they haven't already. Users should have recently received an email from Meta that details this requirement and includes a link for migrating their account. The process seems to be pretty simple, which calls for users to create a Meta account using the same email they used to create an Oculus account. After doing so, all of the previously mentioned data will be safe.

In other recent Meta VR news, the company introduced a new benefit for Meta Quest+ subscribers by adding a Game Pass-like feature. Now, subscribers have access to a rotating selection of games which can be downloaded at no extra cost. This offer is in addition to Meta Quest+'s existing deal which gives subscribers two free games every month. As of March 1, subscribers now have access to 13 VR games as part of the new offer.
