Trying to predict what Nintendo is doing or will do in the upcoming weeks, months, and rest of the year has become a “pastime” here on the interest. Why? It’s because The Big N went from a “this is going to be a sendoff year for the Switch so we can welcome in our new console” to reports coming out that the Switch successor won’t even be coming out in 2024. This was only bolstered by recent events like the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase and Pokemon Presents. So, will Mario Day be any different from those two in what it potentially shows off?
According to leaker Pyoro, the answer is “yes!” Before you say that “he could be wrong,” it should be noted that Pyoro has been incredibly consistent in recent predictions. He was one of the few denying when the Nintendo Direct would arrive, and he was one of the few stating it would be a Partner Showcase and not a pure Direct. So he’s on a roll right now, and when fans asked about a certain upcoming game starring Mario, he was more than happy to plant some seeds for when we might see it detailed further:

The importance of this isn’t lost on fans. Both Paper Mario The Thousand-Year Door and Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD were announced last year during different Directs, but since then, we haven’t gotten any significant information about them. There’s only been one trailer a piece for them, and many felt that we would get release dates for both at the February Direct. However, since that was nothing more than a Partner’s Showcase and thus was only about 3rd party titles, we didn’t hear anything.
While it would be a bit odd for them to drop two trailers on Mario Day, you can’t rule it out for various reasons. First off, Nintendo has done “sneaky trailer releases” in the past, and it’s let them reveal games and other things without having to tie themselves to events.
