Players interested in purchasing a physical copy of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door for the Nintendo Switch need to act fast, as the game is already sold out at some retailers. After Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door crowned Amazon's best-seller list, surpassing games like Dragon's Dogma 2, its physical editions have sold out on the online retailer, and those looking to buy the latest RPG remake will have to wait for restocking or look elsewhere.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is Nintendo's second remake in the Mario RPG universe. The first was Super Mario RPG, a game initially released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System that paved the way for subsequent RPGs. Super Mario RPG received a remake for Nintendo's hybrid console in November 2023 and is considered one of the best RPGs on the Switch. With such success, it's no surprise that Nintendo would make more remakes, and the chosen one this time was the GameCube game Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, set to arrive on May 23.

Players seem to be incredibly excited about the Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remake, considering how the game is already sold out on Amazon, as reported by ComicBook. It may seem strange for those unfamiliar with the franchise that a Mario RPG beat out big releases like the action-RPG Dragon's Dogma 2. However, despite seeming to be a niche game, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door was a phenomenon when it was released 20 years ago and is still considered one of the best GameCube games to date. Considering this achievement, it's understandable why it left the original Paper Mario behind to receive a remake first.
