PC Starfield players can download a new mod that adds mechs, farming, bio-domes, expanded Outposts, and more to Bethesda's sci-fi RPG. Its creator plans to build upon the Starfield mod going into the future, as well.
Most users have probably toyed with Starfield's outpost mechanic, which allows players to build a base to collect resources, upgrade ships, and manufacture valuable components. While outposts have their fair share of abilities, they also come with some limitations. For example, users often need to build an assortment of outposts across the galaxy if they wish to gather a wide range of resources. However, one of Starfield's newest mods aims to make this aspect of the game much more streamlined and enjoyable.
On April 7, TankGirl444 released TGS Galactic Colonies Expanse, which they describe as a «DLC-sized mod.» In it, users can build «colonies» that are more robust than outposts, allowing users to create centralized locations that don't need to rely on other outposts for certain resources. The mod includes entirely new buildings that were «hand-made painfully» and are prefabricated and buildable. It also includes a full farming system that allows users to harvest and sell new fruits and vegetables and own livestock. The mod's many new items include farmable flora as well, which all come with their own lore and places in Starfield's crafting system.
Players have probably heard ofStarfield's mechs while completing quests and exploring its universe. The machines were previously banned in Starfield's world, but the new mod lets users craft a variety of mechs and use them to defend outposts. To aid in base defense, players can also craft an assortment of new turrets that range from mid-sized to «superweapons.»
These powerful turrets include «planetary defense weapons» such as macro ballistic cannons and anti-ship lasers. Similar to other features in the mod, these come with their own lore as well, which seems to mostly be inspired by Starfield's Colony War.
