World of Warcraft Classic players are enjoying Season of Discovery, as it has allowed Blizzard to add unique and memorable content to the game – such as a powerful sword that can drop from the new Stranglethorn Vale boss. A contrast to Retail, World of Warcraft Classic hearkens back to a simpler time, offering gameplay that emphasizes exploration and cooperation. It's an experience that's less structured than Dragonflight, and it's been the primary reason behind its popularity since its launch in August 2019.
Though the Classic servers offer an experience as close to the original as possible, the real attraction has been its Season of Discovery. Designed with the purpose of reinventing the Classic experience, Season of Discovery in World of Warcraft has given the developers free rein to make radical gameplay choices: primarily through runes and early level raids.
Stranglethorn Vale in Season of Discovery has been a similar sort of experiment by leaning into its history as one of the most notorious ganking zones in World of Warcraft. The second phase in Season of Discovery introduced the Blood Moon event to Strangethorn Vale, turning it into a free-for-all PvP zone for 30 minutes, and even adding a special boss that interacts with the free-for-all mechanic. As the Chosen of the Blood Loa, Kha'damu provides a significant buff to the amount of Blood for the Blood Loa stacks that one can earn by defeating others in combat during the Blood Moon.
While it is advisable to avoid engaging Kha'damu directly, a few brave players have managed to best him in combat. As shown by Sarthe in the above tweet, the curious thing about beating this World of Warcraft boss is that he drops an overpowered weapon that players can neither loot nor equip. Requiring Level 125, and granting an absurd amount of strength, the Bloodthirst Blade appears to be a cheeky joke made by the Season of Discovery developers after previously telling its players to not kill the Stranglethorn Vale boss.
