Following their recent Developer Update, Blizzard released updated patch notes highlighting many of the new changes for Season 4, but here's something you may have missed — Unique items can drop for players much earlier, and the minimum character level required to equip Sacred and Ancestral items will be drastically reduced in Season 4: Loot Reborn!
Season 4 Patch Notes 1.4.0
What effect will this have on the leveling experience? Players will start to see Unique Items drop far sooner, and will be able to equip Sacred items as early as character level 35 and Ancestral items as early as 55. As a result, there's a good chance that completed character builds will come online much faster in Season 4. We expect this will help the early game feel more impactful while leveling, and gear progression across the board should feel much smoother while progressing through each World Tier.
Alongside finding and equipping stronger items sooner, Uber Uniques, the strongest items in the game, will have a chance to drop from enemies level 55 and above — and always at 925 item power. Interestingly, these powerful items appear to adhere to the level requirements outlined above, and our testing during the PTR seemed to confirm that Uber Uniques will be equippable by characters as low as Level 35!
The odds of an Uber Unique jumping out of the tall grass is still astronomically small, but the luckiest players and those handing these game-changing items down to alts will absolutely skyrocket their character’s potential.
